Back to School Home Buying

Highland Park school busCan you believe it? This past summer has flown by in a frenzy of double digit days and back-to-school season is upon us already.  For many families looking to purchase a home in the DFW area, school systems are a major determining factor. The quality of the area ISD can make or break a home buying decision. In order to assist you in your search for a new home, I’ve drawn up some of the top local school districts based on the Texas Education Agency’s (otherwise known as TEA) 2011 School District Summaries.

Highland Park ISD consists of seven campuses: four elementary schools, an intermediate school, a middle school, and one high school. All seven of Highland Park’s campuses have achieved an exemplary rating from the TEA. This past year, Highland Park High School was named one of the ten Top High Schools in the country by Newsweek Magazine. For all the athletes in the family, Highland Park ISD is also highly regarded for its athletic achievement in the state of Texas.

Lovejoy ISD is located north of Dallas and just east of Allen. Lovejoy ISD currently consists of three elementary schools, one middle school, and one very recently developed high school. It is home to over 3,400 students. Aside from Highland Park ISD, the district of Lovejoy is the only other school district to receive an exemplary rating for the 2010-2011 school year based solely on TEA ratings.

Carroll ISD is located in Dallas and hosts five elementary schools, two intermediate schools, two middle schools, and two high schools. It is home to over 8,900 students. Not only does Carroll ISD have a 0% dropout rate, but 98% of students follow their Carroll career with a college degree. Year after year, Carroll ISD is often ranked among the top in Texas.

I hope this will prove helpful for your future home buying experience. Remember to slow down in school zones in order to keep our community kids safe. We wish everyone a happy and successful school year!
