What do Home Buyers Want?

buyers agentIn a recent article by Diana Olick from CNBC, Olick wrote of what items make the top of consumers’ lists these days when it comes to buying a home, based on the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) survey.

 

According to the article, buyers are much more price-sensitive and cautious than before, with consumers considering projects and renovations for both enjoyment and resale purposes.

 

Some of the biggest factors taken into account include energy-efficient homes (learn how to make your home energy efficient here) and high-end amenities (although cost-consuming amenities like an elevator are at the top of the list for what consumers don’t want), with consumers compromising choices on amenities with smaller homes—looking to do more with less space.

 

Another big finding in the survey is that consumers are looking more at suburb and rural locations as opposed to the city. (Remember, at Bill Shields, we are always stressing the importance of location!)
